The story of Dead Space, heavily inspired by sci-fi horror films Alien, Event Horizon, and Sunshine, is mostly unchanged. But it is just a part of Motive’s re-engineering: Weapons, characters, and progression have all been rethought, resulting in the best possible version of Isaac Clarke’s trek through a veritable hell - and hopefully the revival of a horror game franchise that flamed out too soon. It is undoubtedly the star of developer Motive Studio’s remake, a more believable and varied ship than the one seen in the original game. Its decks, quarters, and airlocks have been rebuilt in painstaking detail. This remake brings the Ishimura back to life in visually stunning ways. The game still looks quite nice, here's some screenshots that I think had something like reshade adding some bloom, probably should have added some AA also though.Īlso some Dead Space 2 screenshots, and if I recall the vsync issue allies to it also.Polygon Recommends is our way of endorsing our favorite games, movies, TV shows, comics, tabletop books, and entertainment experiences. Also if crashing in an area try with the game's vsync enabled. Going over 60FPS may be problematic, causing some things not to work properly ingame, like doors. This also avoids the game being limited to 30FPS, as is the case with the ingame vsync. To avoid the horrific input/mouse lag in the game, disable ingame vsync and use the graphics driver control panel to force vsync. Still the sluggishness with the mouse can be improved somewhat. It seems that sluggishness may be half deliberate and half due to a poor port as was often the case at the time. They hold up pretty well in many aspects though the sluggish controls are the first thing you notice as a negative. I played Dead Space 1 and 2 a year or so ago.
